What To Do This Weekend: Head To The South Side Works For Art, Music, & Local Bites
/Memorial Day Weekend is the signifier of many things for different people, in conjunction with its true purpose of holding remembrance for those that have served in the military. A long weekend, a non-official kickoff to summer and pool parties, enjoying a local parade, or even hopping on a boat to sail the three rivers with friends or family.
This year, I’m excited to see that there’s an arts-filled event kicking off in the South Side: the Southshore Riverwalk + ChalkFest. It’s the first year for the event, which will feature over twenty chalk artists, a full musical line-up, and an array of beverage and food options, all locally sourced. It will be a day in the sun in the South Side!
The event is free to attend and will take place along 27th Street & Sidney Street on Saturday, May 28th at 2 pm. Food trucks include Brisketburgh and La Palapa and for those that are 21+, enjoy a beverage from Trace Brewing, Strange Roots Brewing, and Gordo’s Tacos & Tequila. Bacardi and Bombay Sapphire will also be there doing what they do best: stirring creativity.
The event is sponsored by Made In PGH and Riverlife, which is a nonprofit organization that works to create, activate, and celebrate Pittsburgh’s riverfronts.
The South Side is near and dear to my heart, so you already know I will be there! Come say hi and let’s grab a drink together.
